The Book of MATTHEW

Chapter 6

Giving to the Needy 6:1-4
1 Be heeding your righteousness, not to be doing in front of the humans (people), (so as to be)come to be gazed at by them, otherwise surely no wages (rewards) are you having from your father in the heavens. 2 Whenever then you may be doing alms (good deeds), you should not be trumpeting in front of you even as the hypocrites are doing in the synagogues and in the street so that they should be glorified by the humans (people). Amen I am saying to you, they are collecting their wages (reward). 3 But when you do alms (good deeds) let not your left-hand know what your right-hand is doing. 4 So that maybe your alms (good deeds) in hiding, your father observes in hiding, shall pay (reward) you.

Prayer 6:5-15
5 And whenever you may be praying, you shall not be as the hypocrites that are found in the synagogues and on the corners of the square standing praying so that that may appear to the humans (people). Amen I am saying to you they are collecting the wage (reward) of them. 6 Yet whenever you may be praying enter into your storeroom and lock your door and pray to your father, to the one in hiding (your father in heaven) and your father, observing you in hiding (from heaven) shall pay (reward) you. 7 Yet praying you should not be using useless repetitions even as the ones of the nations, for they are supposing that in their loquacity (very talkative) they shall be hearkened to. 8 Then you may not be like them, for your father is aware of your needs  you are having before you request of him. 9 Thus pray:
Our Father! In the heavens, hallowed! be your name. 10 Let your Kingdom Come! Let your will become! on earth as in heaven. 11 Give us today our dole (portion) of bread, 12 and remit! (forgive) us our debts, as we remit our debtors; 13 and may you not bring us into trial, but rescue us from the wicked one.

14 for if you forgive the humans (people) of their offenses, your father in heaven shall also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive the humans (people) neither will your father forgive your offenses.

Fasting 6:16-18
16 Whenever you may be fasting don't you become as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance, they disguise their face so that they may appear to the humans (people) fasting. Amen I am saying to you, they are collecting their wages (rewards). 17 Yet when your fasting, rub you! (anoint) your head and wash your face, 18 so that you may not appear to the humans (people or general public) fasting, but to your father, the one in the hiding (in heaven), your father, observing you in hiding (from heaven) shall pay (reward) you.

Treasures in Heaven 6:19-24
19 Do not be hoarding! your treasures on earth where moths and corrosion will cause them to disappear and where thieves are burrowing (breaking in) and stealing: 20 Yet hoard! your treasures in heaven where neither moth nor corrosion is causing them to disappear and where thieves are not burrowing nor stealing. 21 For wherever is your treasure there shall be also your heart.

22 The lamp of the body is the eye. Then if ever your eye may be single, your whole body shall be luminous. 23 But if your eye is wicked your whole body shall be dark, if then the light in you is darkness, how much is the darkness?

24 No one can slave two lords; for either he shall hate one and he shall love the different, or he shall be upholding one and he shall be despising the different, you cannot be a slave to God and to Mammon (material wealth).

Do Not Worry 6:25-34
25 Because of this, I am saying to you, do not be worrying! about your soul, what you may eat, or what you may drink, nor what you should be putting on your body; Is not the soul more of nourishment, and the body of the apparel.
26 Look! at the flying creatures of the heaven that are not sowing, neither are they reaping, nor are they gathering in barns, and your father in heaven is nourishing them, are you not more of consequence then them? 27 And who out of you worrying is able to add on one cubit to your stature? 28 And why are you worrying about apparel? Have you studied the anemones (perennial flower or herb) of the field, how they are growing? They are not toiling, nor are they spinning. 29 Yet I am saying to you, that not even Solomon in all his glory was clothed as one of these. 30 And if the grass of the field today, that is cast into the stove tomorrow, thus is God not garbing you few believing ones much more. 31 Then you should not be worrying, saying, What may we be eating or what may we be drinking, or what we may be clothed? 32 For all these, the nations are seeking; for your heavenly father is aware that you are needing all of these things. 33 But first seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be add to you. 34 Then you should not be worrying about tomorrow for tomorrow shall be worrying of herself. Sufficient to the day is the evil of her.
