19 And Joseph, her husband, being just, and not willing to make a show of her, intended covertly to dismiss her. 20 While brooding these things, he saw a messenger of the Lord, according to trance, appeared to him saying, "Joseph, Son of David, don't you be afraid to accept Mary as your wife, for in her being generated is out of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call him Jesus, for He shall be saving his people from their sins."

22 And this has become complete, that it may be fulfilled that declared by the Lord through the prophet saying, 23 "See the virgin in belly shall be having and she shall bring forth a son, and they shall call him Emmanuel which is being translated, 'God with us.'"

24 And Joseph being awaken from the sleep, does as the messenger of the Lord bids, and he accepted his wife, 25 and he knew her not till she brought forth her son, and he calls his name Jesus.
