USING THE BIBLE TO DEAL WITH FEELINGS
FEELING TIRED or WEARY

 Psalm 3:5-6

I sleep and wake up refreshed because you, LORD, protect me. Ten thousand enemies attack from every side, but I am not afraid.

Psalm 4:4-8

But each of you had better tremble and turn from your sins. Silently search your heart as you lie in bed. Offer the proper sacrifices and trust the LORD. There are some who ask, "Who will be good to us?"

Let your kindness, LORD, shine brightly on us. You brought me more happiness than a rich harvest of grain and grapes. I can lie down and sleep soundly because you, LORD, will keep me safe.

Isaiah 35
God's Splendor Will Be Seen

Thirsty deserts will be glad; barren lands will celebrate and blossom with flowers. Deserts will bloom everywhere and sing joyful songs. They will be as majestic as Mount Lebanon, as glorious as Mount Carmel or Sharon Valley. Everyone will see the wonderful splendor of the LORD our God.

God Changes Everything

Here is a message for all who are weak, trembling, and worried: "Cheer up! Don't be afraid. Your God is coming to punish your enemies. God will take revenge on them and rescue you."

The blind will see, and the ears of the deaf will be healed. Those who were lame will leap around like deer; tongues once silent will begin to shout. Water will rush through the desert. Scorching sand will turn into a lake, and thirsty ground will flow with fountains. Grass will grow in wetlands, where packs of wild dogs once made their home.

God's Sacred Highway

A good road will be there, and it will be named "God's Sacred Highway."
It will be for God's people; no one unfit to worship God will walk on that road. And no fools can travel on that highway. No lions or other wild animals will come near that road; only those the LORD has saved will travel there.

The people the LORD has rescued will come back singing as they enter Zion. Happiness will be a crown they will always wear. They will celebrate and shout because all sorrows and worries will be gone far away.

Matthew 11:25-30
Come to Me and Rest
(Luke 10.21,22)

At that moment Jesus said:
My Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I am grateful that you hid all this from wise and educated people and showed it to ordinary people. Yes, Father, that is what pleased you.

My Father has given me everything, and he is the only one who knows the Son. The only one who truly knows the Father is the Son. But the Son wants to tell others about the Father, so that they can know him too.

If you are tired from carrying heavy burdens, come to me and I will give you rest. Take the yoke I give you. Put it on your shoulders and learn from me. I am gentle and humble, and you will find rest. This yoke is easy to bear, and this burden is light.

2 Thessalonians 3:16

I pray that the Lord, who gives peace, will always bless you with peace. May the Lord be with all of you.

Hebrews 4:1-13

The promise to enter the place of rest is still good, and we must take care that none of you miss out. We have heard the message, just as they did. But they failed to believe what they heard, and the message did not do them any good. Only people who have faith will enter the place of rest. It is just as the Scriptures say, "God became angry and told the people, `You will never enter my place of rest!' "

God said this, even though everything has been ready from the time of creation. In fact, somewhere the Scriptures say that by the seventh day, God had finished his work, and so he rested. We also read that he later said, "You people will never enter my place of rest!"
This means that the promise to enter is still good, because those who first heard about it disobeyed and did not enter. Much later God told David to make the promise again, just as I have already said, "If you hear his voice today, don't be stubborn!"

If Joshua had really given the people rest, there would not be any need for God to talk about another day of rest. But God has promised us a Sabbath when we will rest, even though it has not yet come. On that day God's people will rest from their work, just as God rested from his work.

We should do our best to enter that place of rest, so that none of us will disobey and miss going there, as they did. What God has said isn't only alive and active! It is sharper than any double-edged sword. His word can cut through our spirits and souls and through our joints and marrow, until it discovers the desires and thoughts of our hearts. Nothing is hidden from God! He sees through everything, and we will have to tell him the truth.
